Who I am

Born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, out of high school I initially pursued a medical career but quickly learned, as many high schoolers do, that college was not in the cards for me at that time. I found a program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and trained to become a radiologic technologist and earned an advanced certification as an interventional and cardiovascular technologist. After nearly a decade in clinical healthcare, I joined the work of World Vision, managing medical donations for international programs as well as working within domestic programming. My wife and I followed a dream and decided to move south, here to beautiful Leland where I now work for the Department of Social Services in New Hanover County.

Throughout my work experience, whether in a medical procedure lab or preparing medical products for some of the most difficult environments around the world or helping our neighbors right here in our community, the common thread has always been helping people, a value I will bring to elected office. I believe leadership requires empathy, compassion, and a vision for the future, but most importantly, it requires the ability and desire to listen.

I did eventually go back to school and graduated Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Community Advocacy and Social Policy.

My wife and I enjoy taking in all of the beauty that we have here in North Carolina’s many parks and trails on foot or on bike, going to the beach, and volunteering with local organizations, and I like to pretend I am a gardener. I am also on staff as the youth director at Church of the Servant Episcopal Church. In my spare time you may find me playing or recording music with my band or cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins. or the Hurricanes (the relationship is complicated.)

I look forward to meeting you, hearing you, and working together to make Brunswick County a better place to live, work, and play for all of our neighbors.
